Li-Ion accumulators.
Operation factors of Li-Ion accumulators, at least 2 times better then Ni-Cd and works very good with hi intensity of a current. (i.e. mobile phones, radio transmitters, computers and power tools). Li-Ion accumulators have very low self discharge ratio. 2-5% per month!
Charging time with initial intensity of a current equal one capacity value less then 3 hours.
And battery during charging process keeps normal temperature.
A few words about charging temperature rate.
Almost all battaries allow charging with intensity of a current equel one capacity value from 5 till 40 oC
From 0 oC till 5 oC vendors advices charging with intensity of a current equel 0.1 C, and it`s absolutely forbidden to charge Li-Ion with temperature below 0.
To be safe and to provide long duty every battery pack should be equipped with special controll circuit, to prevent hight voltage value during charge (maximum voltage should be 4.10 – 4.20 with error 0.05 volts max!) and to prevent deep discharge to 3 volts. minimum voltage value should be at least 2.75-2.76 volts per unit in bvattery. If voltage is low then this value, unrecoverable degradation process in accumulator starts and capacity will sugnificantly decrease .
In addition to voltage control this circuit shoud control maximum intensity of a current value of charge and discharge and element temperature.
If temperature will rise to 100 oC, depressurization can occure and Li will contact to atmosphere and water steam. Li interact with water in steam and water disintegrate to hydrogen and oxygen. Oxygen and Litium combines to Litium oxide with Hi temperature emmition. So hydrogen can really blow!
Be careful durin charging Li-IOn baterry without protection circuit. 🙂
Working in temperature below 30 oC significantly decrease battery life.
Next generation of accumulators will be Li-polimerum battery.
They are very powerful, small, flat and can be formed in any shape!!
For example body of my netbook can be a powerful battery, and top cover can be a solar battery. It will be cool! full energy independent notebook! It`s gona be real in near future!
